Lone Kørnøv has been admitted to Kraks Blå Bog

Lone Kørnøv has been admitted to Kraks Blå Bog

Lone Kørnøv, who is a professor of environmental assessment at Aalborg University, has been included in the prestigious Kraks Blå Bog. Her research in environmental assessment, sustainability and decision-making has made her a recognized expert worldwide.

This year's edition of Kraks Blå Bog includes 76 new significant Danes. Among them is Lone Kørnøv, who is a professor of environmental assessment at the Department of Sustainability and Planning and head of the highly influential Danish Center for Environmental Assessment.  

It is nice and encouraging to see that more researchers are included in the group of new entrants. This underlines the importance of research for the development of society.

The prerequisites for inclusion in Kraks Blå Bog is that you are professionally skilled and recognized in your field and thus have a significant, positive influence on Danish society. 

”To be admitted on these merits, I can only be proud. We are in a time with a need for research in many areas of society, and it is wonderful and encouraging to see that more researchers are included in the group of new entrants. I see it as a great recognition of Danish research in general, and it underlines the importance of research for the development of society,” says Lone Kørnøv.

Professor with unique ability to solve sustainability challenges

Throughout her career, Lone Kørnøv has bridged the gap between research and practice by combining scientific knowledge with a unique ability to address societal challenges within sustainability. Her research contributes to the development of tools that best support decision-makers during the green transition. 
 
Lone Kørnøv has paved the way for new generations of researchers in the environmental field. She has initiated programs to inspire more women to pursue education in engineering and natural sciences, aiming to enhance diversity in solving significant global issues. 
 
Internationally, Lone Kørnøv wields significant influence as the president of the International Organization for Environmental Assessment. In this role, she actively promotes digitalization and fosters stronger connections between research and practical applications worldwide and has a particular focus on engaging the next generation. 

For Lone Kørnøv, the inclusion in the Blue Book is important both personally and professionally. 

"I have always had my heart in my research, and over the more than 25 years, it has been more important for me to make a difference than to chase citations. Being included is an expression of recognition of both my passion and my research commitment." 

Kraks Blå Bog 2024-25

  • Kraks Blå Bog has been published since 1910. In total, this year's printed edition contains 8176 biographies of living persons, while the digital version of blaabog.dk contains all the biographies of the approximately 30,000 people who have been included in Kraks Blå Bog over the years. 
  • The prerequisites for being admitted to Kraks Blå Bog is that you are professionally skilled and recognized in your field and thus have a significant, positive influence on Danish society.  
  • In addition to Lone Kørnøv, two other AAU researchers are on the list of new entrants, namely Mette Buchardt and Jens Martin Scherpe. Other well-known Danes who have made the list this year are Crown Prince Christian and Regional Chairman Mads Duedahl from North Jutland.
