Aalborg University has been named the best university in the EU and the fourth best university in the world when it comes to research and education that contributes to meeting the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. 
This is partly thanks to researchers from the Department of Sustainability and Planning. Several of the department's educational activities are also highly valued when Aalborg University's contribution is calculated. 

Heidi Simone Kristensen, assistant professor at the Department of Sustainability and Planning and a significant player in AAU Ranking, says: 
 
"This year, PLAN has made a strong contribution to research and education, especially to SDGs 7, 13, 14, 15 and 17. With AAU's overall ranking as No. 4 in the world, I am pleased to see that our efforts at PLAN to create a more sustainable future are being recognized and rewarded."

The above-mentioned SDGs, to which Plan has contributed in particular, are about sustainable energy, climate action, life in the sea and on land, and partnerships for action. Overall, AAU has received a nice 4th place out of a total of 1963 ranked universities and is the best university in the EU.
